I enjoy browsing in stores that sell beautiful paper and stationery and love adding to my collection. Recently I discovered a scrapbooking store that is huge and filled with all sorts of creative goodness (not good for the wallet I know, but good - very good - for the soul). While browsing through the store I spotted some gorgeous little paper flowers and asked the lady working there if there was a class teaching people how to make these flowers. She said that they were so simple to make (at this point I was thinking: yeah right) She explained the process and I had my doubts that it really could be that easy. I had to give it a go, so I bought a 1.5" scalloped hole punch, a stack of scrapbooking paper and some small brad clips. I was set to go.
Photo below: The first two paper flowers I made and the lady from the shop was right - these really are so simple to make.
Photo below: Supplies needed to make paper flowers - scrapbooking paper, scalloped hole punch, small brad clips and something to apply water to the paper.
Photo below: To make these little paper flowers all you need to do is use your punch to cut out six to eight (depending on the size of the flower you wish to create) scalloped pieces of paper (I used double sided scrapbooking paper as both sides end up being clearly visible). In the photo below I flipped over the piece I punched from this double sided piece of scrapbooking paper.
Photo below: Once you have your six to eight scalloped pieces of paper you need to secure them in the centre with a brad clip. Then, starting with the top piece of paper, wet (I used a small paintbrush) the outer edges of the paper and then fold and pinch it together until you get a shape you are happy with. Once the paper dries, you can also spread the paper out a little more and alter the shape too. Continue this process for each of the pieces of paper.
Photo below: Because Savvy really enjoys flowers, I wanted to make her something for her room with these paper creations, so I decided to make a heart shaped wreath. I cut out a heart, covered it in green ribbon and then used some pink sparkly ribbon to secure around the edge of the heart. Finally, it was time to secure the paper flowers and woila I had a new addition for Savvy's room. Now I am keen to make something similar for Taleea's room and something special for Blakie's room too.
I know it looks garish in this photo, but it actually looks lovely in Savvy's room.
